Hi Everyone,
We will have our regular PIctage announcements followed by a speaker and then a forum discussion.
Our speaker is Scott Adams, a computer consultant, and he has a lot of valuable information that will be advantageous to all of us photographers. He works with both Macs and PCs and works extensively on data management and backup strategies, in addition to computer training, networking, support and workflow efficiency evaluation.
He will be discussing the following topics:
- How to set up your computer as a secure FTP server for remote access of data
- Overcoming firewall issues and Internet Service Provider restrictions
- The pros and cons of using a public/private key pairing for extremely tight security against unauthorized remote access
- Assigning a static IP address via a free service to eliminate the need for constantly monitoring the IP address of your main computer
- Backup backup backup
- Rotation of data storage
- Verification of data integrity
